Taking chicken on holiday...
Posted on 19th Oct 2018
It seemed like a good idea at the time. I had a whole chicken that was due to go off very soon and we were about to go on holiday in a few hours....why not cook it and bring it along for the ride?
Well, it turned out bringing along an entire greasy chicken, wrapped in foil, in a plastic bag wasnโt one of my brightest ideas, along with thatโฆ Iโd forgotten to bring a fork.
So there I was, sitting at a packed cafe eating a whole chicken with my hands because there wasnโt anything around, getting grease all over the place. Worse still, I wasnโt even that hungry. I just didnโt want to waste the food!
Eventually I gave up, it turns out stuffing it in the freezer probably would have been the smarter call, especially since I was being eyed up by airport security as I was furiously trying to shove most of the remaining chicken into one of those bins with a really small lid (itโs almost like they donโt want people shoving bomb sized bags in there!) โฆ :-/
Itโs not quite as bad as someone I heard about who brought chicken and riceโฆ to the cinema! But itโs not something Iโll be repeating.
Anyhoo, hereโre some treats that would be a much better idea to bring along as a snack for your travels...
- Barebells Caramel Bar
- Icon Popcorn
- Battle Bites Birthday Cake
- Fulfil Hazelnut Bar
- Lenny & Larryโs Cookies
Oh, you could even have your โchickenโ and eat it with the Redcon1 MRE Whole Food Bars made with chicken and salmon protein, sounds kinda weird, but they actually taste great! No grease, no cooking and no fork required ;)
Happy travels,
Henry
